Christmas isn’t the only thing to celebrate this December – Pantone has unveiled their Colour of the Year for 2025: PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse. This warm, rich brown envelops us in tones reminiscent of chocolate and coffee, offering a perfect balance of comfort and sophistication to inspire the year ahead.

PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse serves as a versatile foundation for design across industries, seamlessly adapting to both minimalist aesthetics and intricate compositions. Its sensorial richness invites creativity while fostering moments of indulgence and connection. More than a colour, it’s a reminder to embrace small luxuries – like the first sip of a rich mocha – and find beauty in life’s simple pleasures.

Rooted in cultural shifts towards mindful living and simplicity, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse reflects a collective longing for grounding and warmth. Its restrained elegance bridges tradition and modernity, shining in contexts ranging from cosy interiors to bold branding. Whether used in monochrome or paired with vibrant accents, this timeless shade transcends trends, offering endless inspiration for creative expression.

Wrapped up in PANTONE 17-1320 Mocha Mousse’s warm embrace, we’re taking a look back at all the materials, and schemes, that have percolated throughout the years – and brew fresh ideas for the one to come.

Inspired by the peatlands of the Welsh countryside, Mawn’s deep, earthy tones also evoke the rich, sumptuous shades of chocolate. Thanks to its solid colour distribution, Mawn, created from 100% recycled plastic, has been crafted to work harmoniously with all elements of a commercial interior design scheme, evoking the calm and comfort of our beloved outdoors wherever it sits.

Heron in Chestnut combines a rich palette of chocolatey browns and spiced reds to transform would-be waste into something irresistibly indulgent. Heron’s material mix, originally a neutral base made from unwanted refrigerators, now boasts a luxurious depth reminiscent of marbled molten chocolate, elevating its aesthetic allure.

We would be remiss not to mention one material that formed the basis for Smile Plastics as it is today – Çurface. Driven by the idea of transforming waste into value, our co-founder Adam Fairweather pioneered Çurface from recycled coffee grounds – a concept that revealed the potential of discarded materials.

This innovation inspired Smile Plastics’ core mission: to create materials that do more than just look beautiful; they tell a story of sustainability, creativity, and possibility in every panel.
