Plenty of Smiles this summer
While the weather may be hit and miss so far this summer, there's lots to Smile about.
We've had a celebratory couple of months with our Founder, Rosalie, honoured as part of Acquisition International Magazine's Influential Businesswoman Awards. And, speaking of awards, we also created a very special trophy for New Designers Part Two.
As well as reminiscing, we're now looking ahead to what's coming later in the year – from Material Matters to Design Dialogues. Plus, the return of a hit Smile Plastics material by popular demand...

Congratulations are in order for Louis Jacques Wright – a graduate from Falmouth University – who was awarded The Design Council’s Design for Planet Prize at New Designers Part Two.
The Design Council judges were impressed by Louis', “innovative approach to breaking down the systemic issues related to the fast fashion and jewellery industries by integrating sustainable bio-material and technology”, evident in his project Organic Opulence. Well done, Louis!

Smile Founder Rosalie McMillan awarded Most Instrumental Sustainability Leader
Acquisition International Magazine has unveiled the winners of the ninth Influential Businesswoman Awards, and our Founder Rosalie McMillan has been awarded the Most Instrumental Sustainability Leader 2024 (UK) for the second year in a row!
With almost ten years behind it, after its successful launch in 2016, the Influential Businesswoman Awards programme stands to remind us of the incredible achievements of women throughout a spectrum of industries.

Design Dialogues Exhibition by Design Burger: 2–4 August
Have you got your tickets to the Design Dialogues Exhibition by Design Burger?
Design Dialogues combines hand-sketched answers to thought-provoking questions alongside physical work from world-renowned designers. Exploring the link between the initial thought process and the final product, the exhibition provides the design community with an intimate insight into the minds behind some of the best work in the industry.
We're excited to be material partners, showcasing large sheets of our classic Alba material.

Material Matters returns to Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf: 18–21 September
September sees the return of Material Matters. The fair brings together over 40 world-leading brands, designers, makers, manufacturers and organisations to celebrate the importance of materials and their ability to shape society; and we're once again delighted to be involved.
We will be exhibiting in Room 12, which has been designed as a curated journey through various exhibits of furniture and finishes, starting with an introduction to the amazing and ever-evolving world of raw materials, geography, people and supply chains... and culminating with an interactive space for reflection. Register for your ticket now!

Cosmos is back – and its design possibilities are infinite.
Like a shooting star, our Cosmos material, with its intergalactic combination of expansive monochrome and explosive bursts of brilliant colour, burnt bright on its first orbit. But as with all our ranges, the ‘waste’ plastic packaging mix from which it was originally created has evolved – and so too has our product offering, its design flexing in response to raw material supply.
Aesthetically, Cosmos reimagined remains an otherworldly delight, with the dynamic visual pace that makes it appear to have been painted; its splatters and splashes of bold colour reflecting the vigorous process in which it was created. And in addition to its vibrant yet versatile appearance, it is highly practical; available in thicknesses of 5mm, 12mm and 20mm, and as a supersized panel 3000 × 1200mm for ultimate creative possibilities. Take a giant leap and order your sample now.
Here's to a fantastic summer!
Thanks, as always, for your support,
Team Smile
