Another Country Sideboard Two. Featuring Heron.

With the summer drawing to a close, our sights are firmly set on September and all the design inspiration it has to offer by way of the highly anticipated London Design Festival 2022. This year, we’re extremely excited to be exhibiting as part of Material Matters 2022 – a new fixture on the London design calendar.

Taking place from 22-25 September on the capital’s Southbank, the event brings together “over 40 world-leading brands, designers, makers and organisations to celebrate the importance of materials and their ability to shape our lives.” It’s safe to say we’re thrilled to be a part of the inaugural gang, showcasing our 100% recycled and recyclable plastic surfaces on the 4th floor of the iconic Bargehouse at Oxo Tower Wharf. What’s more, we’re launching a brand-new, never-before-seen material at the show: Heron.

Introducing a certified classic: Heron

With layered feathery soft grey tones, a smattering of yellow hues, warm ochre flecks, black and blizzard white, it’s hard to imagine that Heron came from humble beginnings. But, in fact, it was created from the staple kitchen fixtures we use every day. Would-be discarded white goods make up the foundations of the Heron mix, bringing a unique aesthetic and colour palette that is less reminiscent of its original material make-up and more alike the appearance of the statuesque bird after which it was named.

Available in 3000mm x 1200mm x 5, 12 or 20mm sheets, and other smaller format sizes, it’s the perfect addition to sustainability-conscious commercial schemes, from workplace, to hospitality, co-living to BTR. Visitors to our stand at Material Matters will be treated to an exclusive first look at Heron and will have the opportunity to take samples away.

Showcasing a combination of our materials, Geometric Jungle is an evolution of our exhibition at February’s Surface Design Show. It explores the versatility of Smile Plastics through totems featuring different sized sheets – including 2000mm x 1000mm - shape construction, and fabrication.

In addition to our brand-new material Heron, Alba and a vibrant pop of Kaleido will form the curves and sharp angles of our various totems. Samples will also be on offer for all the materials exhibited.
