The Rottenbar, by New York-based artist Mika Rottenberg
The Rottenbar, by New York-based artist Mika Rottenberg

Mika Rottenberg's 'Rottenbar' – Hauser & Wirth, New York City

At the end of 2023, Hauser & Wirth unveiled the Rottenbar, a permanent installation created by Argentina-born, New York-based artist Mika Rottenberg on the second floor of the gallery’s building on West 22nd Street. Made from carved bittersweet vines and reclaimed plastic that Rottenberg molds, extrudes and presses into sculptural forms, the Rottenbar—from conception to production—suggests the artist’s studio can be an incubator for a regenerative circle of creation and consumption.

Using Orca as the base for the installation, Rottenberg perfectly melds the natural with the unnatural to create a surrealist sculpture that takes recycled plastic back to its roots.

Architecture for a Changing World: Rethinking the Future, London

Architecture for a Changing World is a new exhibition, held in Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios' gallery space on Tottenham Court Road. Pulling together key themes that collectively form an agenda for architecture as we move forward, FCB has curated new ideas, calls to action, personal stories and research, and is proposing solutions to the multiple very real, and urgent, interconnected issues that we face.

Along with Fallen & Felled, who repurpose felled urban trees into hardwood timber and whose mixed species hardwood makes up the frame of the exhibition, our Grey Mist material has been used to make the shelveing and tabletops housing the exhibition's content.

The free exhibition is a must see and open to the public Monday - Friday, 9:00-5:30.
