It's our favourite time of year again – the air is cool and frosty, Christmas is upon us, and Pantone have just revealed their Colour of the Year for 2024. A soft and tactile tone, somewhere between orange and pink, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is a symbol of compassion, closeness and connection.

Reminiscent of the day’s first light, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is a delicate blend of warm tones that evokes a sense of calmness and optimism. Its gentle hue is a departure from the bold and striking colours chosen by Pantone in previous years; creating a statement but also taking a back seat to harmonise with various colour schemes and design elements – beautifully understated, yet impactful.

The colour encapsulates mindfulness, infusing spaces with a sense of serenity and sophistication. Pantone describe the colour as “subtly sensual [...], a heartfelt peach hue bringing a feeling of kindness and tenderness, communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration.”

Blending the past and present with romantic ideals including a longing for nature and a sustainable future, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz evokes a connection to the environment in a kind of new modernity.

As we get inspired by this year’s colour choice by Pantone, we’re reflecting on projects which have embraced fuzzy peachy tones; from our Limited Edition Coral Dapple to Custom blends, we’ve long been fans of a peachy shade.

Taking cues from PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is our custom Apricot PET wash material created in collaboration for MONC Eyewear’s bricks and mortar store, designed by Nina+Co. The multi award-winning stores' colour scheme drew on the rich, earthy terracotta and cool grey tones found in nature, offset with bold bursts of Apricot. The calming setting was bolstered by ethereal elements from unique textures, a mix of bio-based and recycled, altogether making for a soothing retail experience.

Our highly-desired Limited Edition Coral Dapple served glorious swirls of pearly whites with delicate, cosy, peachy hues. From side tables to countertops to full store fit-outs, its gentle warmth was a favourite amongst interior designers and architects, infusing spaces with an inviting charm and inspiring creative expression.

Furthermore, our collaboration with Evan James Design for Surface Design Show 2022, revealed a playful mix of custom colours and shapes to complement our Grey Mist material, including gentle lilac, forest green, crimson red and a velvety peach. The vibrant and dynamic installation encouraged interactive play and collaborative engagement, inviting visitors to explore and participate in an immersive design experience.

"This year's colour choice is not merely a visual preference; it encapsulates a broader narrative—a celebration of togetherness, an acknowledgment of the joys found in our closest relationships, and a profound appreciation for moments of quiet introspection. In the context of our evolving societal landscape, there exists a palpable shift in how we perceive our lives and the world around us. The current trajectory prompts a collective introspection, urging us to reconsider our core values and how we choose to manifest them. This period encourages deliberate and thoughtful self-expression, emphasizing the significance of our health and well-being—both physical and mental—as well as the profound value we place on intimate connections and personal moments."
